Donor Journey Assessment

Not sure which digital channels are working for your organization? Not sure what to prioritize to grow your fans & funds online?

What’s preventing people from becoming your avid fans?

When it comes to digital marketing, most nonprofits struggle to identify what’s working, what’s not working, and what’s preventing people from becoming avid supporters. When you’re deep in the work every day, it’s nearly impossible to catch messaging and marketing snags that could be deterring people at any stage—or multiple stages—of your donor journey. And there may be great-fit digital channels you’re not tapping into yet.

The donor journey assessment is for you if…

  • You're not sure which digital investments are paying off—or where you should invest.

If your organization has been in operation for at least a year and you’ve begun building a digital presence, this Assessment will tell you what’s working, where to improve, and where untapped opportunities lie.

  • You're deep in the work and could use an outside perspective.

Every organization, young or established, can benefit greatly from an outside perspective to detect digital snags, point out messaging problems, and introduce fresh ideas.

  • You're self taught and want to make sure you're doing this right.

You’re so busy churning out content and trying to learn new “tech things” on the fly! You want to make sure you’re following best practices and leveraging the right channels for long-term success.

“Caroline is a kind, strategic, encouraging, and generous consultant. I worked with Caroline recently to conduct a digital assessment and her work was stellar. I learned so much! The most amazing part of the audit was her absolutely complete and clear follow-up after our 1.5-hour meeting. It's all there, in robust detail. I can't wait to get started with her recommendations to build our audience, convey our expertise about our work in Ethiopia, and communicate better with our amazing donors.”

This is not your traditional digital audit.

1. Donor journey map

I will review all of your digital channels and map your current journey, noting any snags including tech issues, confusing messaging, and other user experience flaws. In each section of your journey map, from Awareness through to Retention, I will highlight the biggest opportunities for improvement.

2. In-depth working session

I want to show you what I’m looking at and teach you how to review your channels—including your analytics, email marketing platform, and any digital advertising platforms you’re leveraging—to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. We’ll spend 90 minutes digging in together. This is your time and we’ll spend it covering whatever is most helpful for you.

After our live working session, I will write up and prioritize recommendations for your organization and present them on a call that your team can record for future reference. The Assessment I share won’t be a stuffy audit or a fluffy strategy. You’ll get a clear list of action items—a roadmap you can use to make improvements over time.

How it works:

Meet your digital strategist.

About Caroline

At the start of my career, I worked in-house at a nonprofit for four years as their marketing & communications team of one. I felt isolated and overwhelmed by all of the digital marketing and fundraising ideas, requests, and platforms swirling around. I didn’t know what to prioritize or how to measure success. I desperately craved a nimble, experienced partner who could help me develop a blueprint and make it happen.

So I left to earn a master’s degree in marketing and work at a top-notch nonprofit marketing agency. Now, I’m proud to be that partner for small teams seeking strategy and support. I don’t possess any marketing magic—no one does. I do have the education and experience to guide thoughtful research, smart planning, and creative content that will drive growth.

Caroline is an absolute dream to work with. She completely exceeded our expectations and really went the extra mile (or extra couple of miles!). She dove in head first and really helped us bring our launch and ongoing digital strategy to the next level. She is a wonderful teacher and taught me so much about digital marketing and social media management in a relatively short time. She's also just a joy to be around and fun to work with. I wish we had Caroline working with us full-time!”
